Creator, Badass, and Saint

A journey to Ireland for 8 nights, with a small group of powerful women, inspired by three Irish female archetypes, curated by Marcia McFee, PhD

This trip is perfect for

• personal spiritual renewal wrapped in adventure

• clergy renewal leave, sabbatical, or continuing education (CEU's available)

• academic scholars or spiritual writers as a time for sparking creativity

September 14-22, 2025

Please note: This is not a "regular" tour to "see the sites" (although you will see some of the most classic and important sites of Ireland). This is a pilgrimage with time for guided conversations with guest experts curated for you in significant locations. This is an experience for women who desire a deeply meaningful and one-of-a kind experience–full of "site-being" rather than simply "site-seeing." You will indicate your interest and we will have an interview session with you to make sure this trip is right for you.

A look into the three movements of the journey

Check out the agenda and details and then click the button at the end of the page to fill in the form to let us know you are interested in applying. Please note physical aspects of this trip: a couple of times our adventures will require walking on uneven ground and up and down hills, about 2 miles at a stretch. Accommodations can be made but you will be able to participate most fully in all the aspects of this trip if this amount of physical activity is possible for you.

"Creator"

We arrive and begin the pilgrimage to the Boyne Valley, land of Stone Age pre-Celtic ritual passageways, immersing ourselves in the mystery of County Meath. We celebrate and dine together this first night and immerse ourselves in a candlelit threshold moment. The next two days include time at the burial passage tombs of Newgrange and ritual grounds such as the rock of the goddess Eiru and time with a scholar in the era of the goddess and pagan priestess.

"Badass"

We travel to the west coast to the Wild Atlantic Way and our home base for two nights, Westport in County Mayo. This quintessential coastal town is home to some of the best music in Ireland as well as the legendary Grace O'Malley, 16th century pirate queen and the inspiration for our look at our own essential "fiercity" in this world, spurred by our amazing special guest speaker. A trip to Clare Island, home of the O'Malley clan, is where we will experience the wild edges of sea and land. You can opt for a pilgrimage hike up the sacred "Croagh Patrick" mountain. We'll have two nights to eat the amazing food of this town and enjoy pub visits for music to fill the soul.

"Saint"

In the mystical lands of the Burren, we move to our third home in the pilgrimage, the coastal town of Doolin where we will acknowledge the women saints, particularly St. Brigid. This woman who took the name of a pre-Celtic goddess is revered as much as St. Patrick for her wondrous works and legacy of wisdom and compassion and work for the oppressed. Our conversation partners will deepen our engagement with women mystics during this time at Spanish Point, Brigid's Well and the Cliffs of Moher.

"Finale"

After three stops to engage the three female archetypes, we will move to the Wicklow mountains to take in all we have experienced. Our final time of reflection is rich as we stay together onsite at Glendalough, site of a 7th century monastery and a perfect place to take our final walk through the Emerald Isle's magical countryside. Our final night together before heading to flights out of Dublin will be a celebratory dinner.
